About the Retail Tenancy Unit

The New South Wales Government set up the Retail Tenancy Unit in 1994 to provide a timely and cost effective information and alternative dispute resolution service for parties involved in retail leases.

Mediations are conducted by a panel of independent professional mediators with retail lease experience and/or Retail Tenancy Unit staff. This allows the Retail Tenancy Unit to ensure that each dispute is matched with a mediator with the relevant skills and experience to best assist the resolution of the particular dispute.

The Retail Tenancy Unit is part of the NSW Department of State and Regional Development. About the NSW Department of State and Regional Development click here.
The unit administers more than 800 mediations across metropolitan, rural and regional NSW each year.
