WHAT CAN THE RETAIL TENANCY UNIT DO FOR YOU?


The Retail Tenancy Unit was set up as a requirement of the Retail Leases Act 1994, to provide information and assistance on retail lease matters and to help leassor and leassees work out their ownsolutions to disputes about their retail lease.

The unit’s staff are formally trained in alternative dispute resolution strategies and are available to assist the parties and former parties to a lease dispute, work out their own solutions to their problem.

The Retail Tenancy Unit also utilises a panel of professional mediators with retail lease experience. The Retail Tenancy Unit can match mediators with the relevant skills and experience to the particular dispute to obtain the best results.

The Retail Tenancy Unit Dispute Resolution Kit guides prospective lessees through the issues to consider before taking out a lease and offers advice and information for those already in dispute.
